The former X Factor winner is currently touring with his UK-wide show, Set Your Soul Alive, and he’s breaking up a string of dates to visit the North-east with a show dedicated to his passion – musicals.

An Evening of Movies and Musicals, showing at the Music Hall tonight, is a celebration of all things musical, said Joe, who will be appearing with West End star Kerry Ellis and Hollywood legend Lorna Luft.

“The show’s full of timeless classics and movie tunes that people can relate to, like songs from The Lion King and Wicked.” said Joe. “They’re up-tempo and really good fun.

“I haven’t had the chance to come up here for a while and I always love coming to Aberdeen.”

For Joe, who usually travels with a band, working with an orchestra for Movies and Musicals will be a welcome break from his jam-packed tour.

“It will be really nice to come up and have a refreshing, different concert and different setting. I find orchestras really soothing and they show a another side to the music.”

And for multi-talented Joe, singing famous songs from musicals will be a chance to get back to his roots.

He said: “Popstar to Opera Star was a pivotal moment in my career. I love pop music, but I also love the more classical side of things like opera and musicals.

“I’m still finding myself as an artist as I’m progressing, and I think my albums reflect that. Artists change and become more experienced and confident as time goes on.”

A new album is even on the cards once Joe’s tour is over, he revealed.

“There will definitely be a new album soon. I’ve been writing lots of new material. I will be straight in the studio after the tour – maybe after I’ve slept for three weeks!”
