Two Las Vegas headline entertainers with breakthrough film projects are about to hit big and make history.

First is Sir Elton John’s Caesars Palace resident headliner show “The Million Dollar Piano” filmed at the Colosseum. In March, there will be two unprecedented showcase screenings (March 18 and 26) at theaters around the world. In the U.S. alone, 700 movie theaters will show his concert.

Elton performs “Tiny Dancer,” “Rocket Man,” “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting,” “I’m Still Standing,” “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” “Philadelphia Freedom” and “Your Song.” A behind-the-scenes segment of his 1973 “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” which will be re-released on March 25, has been added to the Caesars Palace footage.

“It’s unlike anything I have done before, a complete mix, a showcase of all my music, accompanied by spectacular scenery and beautiful video images,” said Elton through a spokesman.

During his 50-year career, the Rocket Man who grew up at the same time in the same area as me 20 miles outside London has performed more than 3,000 concerts and sold more than 250 million records, including 35 gold and 25 platinum and the biggest-selling single of all time. He was knighted a Commander of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II.

TIESTO BIRTHDAY VIDEO: Tiesto, the lead resident DJ at Hakkasan in MGM Grand celebrated his 45th birthday there, as I reported. However, I didn’t know until now that while here, one of the world’s top DJs also filmed a music video for his new single “Red Lights.”

It has been released, and, as you can see before it hits cable TV music programs, Tiesto and MGM get some nice exposure with the project. It’s believed that this is a first for a DJ who has now branched from not only mixing music but also into making movie production videos, too.

FORGIVING SINS: As President’s Day weekend winds down, there are a lot of tourists leaving town reflecting on their “The Hangover” antics they re-created deliberately or by accident. Adult freedom in Sin City often results in visitors’ creating their own outrageous “What Happens Here” moments.

Former Mayor Oscar Goodman wants travelers who’ve sated their adventurous appetites and sexy splurges with whatever bad behavior they’ve committed to depart with guilt-free consciences. So he’s spending today at McCarran International Airport issuing “Presidential Pardons” for all the sexy, sassy and sizzling shenanigans. We really are the Most Thoughtful City on Earth!

MENU WINNER: Our “Top Chef” New Orleans cheftestant Shirley Chung came so close to winning the most recent Season 11 Bravo show. Judge Emeril Lagasse was so impressed with her winning dish of Texas redfish and Asian sauces that he put it on the menu all month long at his New Orleans restaurants. It’s proved such a giant hit that he’s now added it to the menus of his three restaurants here in the Venetian, Palazzo and MGM Grand.

Meantime, Shirley is away on a chef’s tour in South Korea and continuing onto other Asian food spots before returning here to finalize negotiations for her first chef/owner restaurant. She told me that some of the “Top Chef” dishes and the new Asian trip highlights will be re-created there.

WARM WELCOME: Eighty thousand fashion-industry folks start arriving today for their annual MAGIC trade show, the largest fashion trade event in North America, and our nightclubs have planned a plethora of parties. We’ll start the listings Tuesday, but with designers, manufacturers, buyers and sellers on hand for the twice-a-year market week, expect to see lots of new collections and fashion trends.

To see what the world will be wearing in everything from shoes to sportswear, textiles to ties and leather to lace, check out the displays — so large the 80-year marketplace spills to Las Vegas Convention Center and Mandalay Bay Convention Center. House of Blues at Mandalay Bay headliner Carlos Santana will show his new lines, and there’s urban street wear known simply as Tupac + Biggie.

VALENTINE’S WEDDING: Irish pop star Kian Egan, who was a member of the hit British groups Westlife and IOYOU, oversaw the wedding of a couple, known only as Del and Donna, at Bellagio Fountains on Valentine’s Day. The ceremony was shown live via satellite on British television. A licensed official made the ceremony legal as Kian sang Valentine’s greetings.

Luxor headliners Jabbawockeez screen their new short art and culture film “Regenerate” at their theater before their 10 p.m. performance of “Prism.”

Not one but Ten Tenors lift the roof of Smith Center in a music extravaganza.

“Rock of Ages” at the Venetian star Mark Shunock hosts his “Mondays Dark” at Vinyl in the Hard Rock Hotel featuring the music of Queen with guests Savannah Smith, Jaime Lynch, Anthony Cools, Murray Sawchuck and cast members of “Rock of Ages,” “Jersey Boys” and “Million Dollar Quartet” to benefit St. Therese Center/HIV Outreach.

John DiCrosta and Marc Patrick headline at Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club in MGM Grand through Sunday.

Jimmie “J.J.” Walker and Paul Bond headline at Riviera Country Club through Sunday.

DJ Chuckie hosts the official Young & Reckless fashion party at Marquee in the Cosmopolitan.

DJ Diplo is at XS, which just celebrated its fifth-anniversary weekend, at Steve Wynn’s Encore.

Fashion Week gets underway, Rio headliner magician Penn Jillette updates us on his crowd-funding movie, and we have the advance inside word on at least one new musical headed here next winter.
