Are you ready to rock ‘n’ roll? The UK’s number one Elvis production The Elvis Years returns to Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts on Friday 7 March.
Memphis Tennesee (Mario Kombou) delivers an extraordinary tour de force performance as the King of Rock n’ Roll in a two hour concert brilliantly capturing the musical life of Elvis. The show features over 40 hits from the early, innovative days of That’s Alright Mama, appearances on TV’s Ed Sullivan Show, the movie years with GI Blues and Jailhouse Rock, plus the famous ’68 Comeback Special, finishing with the stunning performances in Las Vegas and Suspicious Minds.
In 2005 Mario Kombou was voted ‘Images of The King World Champion’ with Elvis’s cousin Donna Presley declaring him “The best Elvis since Elvis”. Against competition from hundreds in the UK and extensive auditions held on Broadway, Mario landed the lead role in the West End production of Jailhouse Rock the Musical, receiving numerous accolades. It was on this show that Mario met and formed a close creative relationship with Ivor Novello award-winning Music Producer David Mackay, with whom he joined forces to create The Elvis Years. The result was a concert encompassing the entire musical life of Elvis, combined with the innovative musical elements of Jailhouse Rock the Musical that had captivated audiences in London.
