When fans attack: Take a look at more star’s who have been at the centre of tussles and shocking security breaches
As news emerges that TV star Ant McPartlin was attacked outside a pub by thugs after he asked them to stop being a nuisance, we take a look at other star’s who have been targeted by supposed fans.
Ant and his mum Christine were enjoying a meal at a pub in Chiswick, West London, when a gang began filming them on their mobile phones and making rude gestures through the window.
According to The Sun, the 38-year-old TV star went outside to politely ask them to leave, but was grabbed by the head and put in a headlock. When 58-year-old mum Christine rushed to his aid she was pushed to the ground.
"The youths were banging on the window, filming them and generally just being a pain – and they just wouldn’t let it lie," a witness told the paper.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: “Officers attended but no allegations were made and no one suffered any injuries.”
But this isn’t the first time fans have proved troublesome for their idols – we look at fourteen other unfortunate star’s who have been targeted by supposed fans.
1. Taylor Swift’s debut London Red show last month really went out with a bang – especially for the brave fan that sprinted on stage to deliver the pop beauty a note.
The Love Story singer took to the stage at O2 Arena for the first date of her London RED tour and the show went without a glitch.
But as she belted out her final song, We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, a male fan ran onto the stage and up the stairs where she was singing to deliver her a note.
Taylor’s response? She remained completely calm and even shook his hand and flashed him one of her megawatt grins, before two of her burly security guards managed to catch up with him and muscle him off stage.
. This now infamous shove on Oasis star Noel Gallagher at Torontos V Festival 2008 placed the bands biggest ever-world tour in jeopardy.
Luckily Noel was able to recover quickly from his three broken ribs, with only three dates being pulled. Skip to 1min 25secs for the SHOVE.
And thankfully it didn’t make his voice any more monotonic than it already is. Phew.
. While Robbie Williams has often been accused of aping Oasis style, he can at least say he was there first when it comes to stage shoves.
Here we see the former Take That star come a cropper during a show in Germany in 2001. (Warning: contains strong language)
He’ll definitely be hoping for less of this when he tours with Olly Murs – who is known for a tumble or two – this summer.
. Having been pelted with deckchairs and camping stoves at the Reading Festival in 2006, 50 Cent is certainly used to playing to a tough crowd.
Nevertheless, the rapper got more than he bargained for during the gig below in Angola, when one cheeky fan crashed the stage and swiped his gold chain. Skip to 1min 35secs for the STEAL.
Is it just a coincidence there’s a new popular rapper called 2 Chainz – or did someone yank this and do some simple addition?
. A crazed bloke queued for five hours to meet Leona Lewis — then punched her in the face.
The vicious attack happened in 2011 when the former X Factor winner was signing copies of her new autobiograhy. After being struck,
She clutched her head and burst into tears as she was whisked away from the scene by minders and taken to hospital. Five security guards jumped on the 6ft 5in thug and pinned him to the ground.
People keep asking her, ‘why the long face?’
. Twilight hearthrob Robert Pattinson was left nursing a bruised hip after a mob of fans chased him into the path of a taxi in New York in 2009.
The screaming fans pounced on as he came out of a bookstore in downtown Manhattan, where he was shooting his new movie Remember Me.
The phrase Taxi for R-Patz couldn’t be more appropriate.
. Former Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown was dragged from the stage by a crowd surfer whilst performing at Sheffield’s Carling Academy, hitting his head on the concrete floor in the process.
He was rushed to hospital where he received 10 stitches to a head wound, but was well enough to perform at the Isle of Wight Festival the following night.
Rock and roll, eh?
. One of sports most terrifying moments came in 1993 when Monica Seles was stabbed by an obsessive Steffi Graf fan during a match between the pair in Hamburg.
. Former Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell was shot and killed by a deranged fan along with three others during a Damage Plan gig in Ohio in 2005. This NBC News clip below details the tragic incident.
. In 1989, Steve McCarthy was pummelling Tony Wilson in a boxing match when Wilson’s mother climbed into the ring, came up behind McCarthy and started clubbing him on the head with one of her shoes.
11. A Copa Sudamericana tie between Argentinas River Plate and Blooming of Bolivia was called off earlier this year after a fan blindsided Rivers Henry Gimenez.
The striker was left dazed after the blow, but the incident could have been a whole lot worse after police discovered his assailant had been carrying a knife.
12. Lady Gaga had been staying at the swanky five-star The Langham in London when a fan attacked.
Scores of adoring fans had been camping outside the hotel hoping to catch a glimpse of Gaga, but things quickly turned a little sour when one superfan managed to get within two metres of her Gagaship, in the hope of touching her heroine.
Credit to Gaga who didn’t flinch and managed to keep a (yeah yeah) Poker Face.
13. There are few things you would expect at a Justin Bieber concert, such as hysterical screams from teenage fans, a two-hour delayed gig and some cheesy pop music.
But you definitely wouldn’t expect to witness the unsuspecting get attacked onstage by a crazed male.
The shocking incident in Dubai has sparked major security concerns for the teenager’s safety after he was ambushed from behind by the ‘fan’ midway through a piano performance.
In a video uploaded to YouTube, the attacker is seen storming the stage and grabbing Bieber sending the piano crashing over as the pair tussle to the ground.
The 19-year-old singer freed himself and fled to the other side of the stage as security lunged at the potentially dangerous stage stormer.
. Back in 2009, Britney Spears
experienced a terrifying trespassing encounter mid-Womanizer performance.
During the Circus gig in Connecticut, a
overzealous fan jumped on stage and a very surprised Britney was
understandably all a little freaked out.
Fortuantely security and her
muscle-bound backing dancers quickly stopped him before he could come
in contact with her.
