Happy Friday everyone!   Overall, a quiet weekend here… but we have a few ideas for you.

For something a little different (and spooky, perhaps), head to the Florida Museum of Natural History tonight.  Every Friday evening (this evening through August first) the museum is hosting the "Creative B Movie Series".  The museum and Creative B offer the free movie screening and take a look at the balance between science and art with a panel of experts.  Tonight’s movie:  "The Wolf Man".  Starting at 7 pm, the panel of scientists and special effects experts look at the 1941 flick… with the movie following.  The museum, by the way, is open to the public from 6 to 10 pm.  Website

Gainesville’s "Free Fridays" Concert Series continues tonight.  Tonight, the indie rock band Morningbell takes to the stage at the Bo Diddley Community Plaza.  While the band got its start in Miami, Morningbell now calls Gainesville home.  This will be the band’s first performance since they celebrated their tenth anniversary with a concert last November.  The "Free Fridays" Concert Series is every Friday through October and is produced by the City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department.  The show runs from 8 to 10 tonight in downtown Gainesville.  Website

In Ocala, the Kingdom of the Sun Concert Band is performing its last concerts of the season this weekend.  The 90-plus member band, which got its start in 1990, now features performers ranging in age from 13 to 92.  They play a wide variety of music and this weekend will be performing songs requested at previous concerts.  Their performances are always free to the public, but donations are welcome.  They are performing at 2 pm Saturday and 3 pm Sunday at the Marion Technical Institute Auditorium, 1614 East Fort King Street in Ocala.  Website

Finally, if you’d like to take in a play this weekend, check out "Oliver" at the Performing Arts Center at P.K. Yonge   Website, and Musical Me Theatre’s production of "The Wizard of Oz" at the Phillips Center.  Website

Enjoy your weekend!
