From Wire Reports

Keke Palmer will take over the title role in the current revival of “Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella” in New York, becoming what is believed to be the first black actress to play the role on Broadway.

The 20-year-old Palmer is scheduled to begin her run in the musical starting Sept. 9.

A wicked stepmother also has been picked for the show – Sherri Shepherd.

“The View” co-host said on the daytime talk show Tuesday that she will make her Broadway debut in the musical opposite Palmer in the title role also on Sept. 9 at the Broadway Theatre.

Shepherd will end seven years on “The View” this Friday.

She has been on “Dancing with the Stars” and “30 Rock” as Tracy Morgan’s wife.

Palmer’s first big screen role was as the title character in the 2006 movie “Akeelah and the Bee.” She has since appeared in a number of movies and TV shows, including her BET talk series “Just Keke.”

“Cinderella” opened on Broadway in early 2013 and features a revised book by playwright Douglas Carter Beane.

Man arrested on Allen movie set

A man accused of throwing furniture on the set of a Woody Allen movie in Rhode Island’s capital has been arrested and charged with assault.

Providence police say the man tossed a chair and assaulted security guards Tuesday on the set, which is near Brown University.

Police identify the man as Mark Spiridakos. They say he ran from the set and was tackled and then was taken to a hospital with a head injury.

A San Diego man has pleaded not guilty to biting off a man’s fingertip during a Jay-Z and Beyonce concert at Pasadena’s Rose Bowl.

Twenty-five-year-old Roberto Garnica entered pleas Tuesday to mayhem, battery and battery with serious bodily injury.

Los Angeles County prosecutors say Garnica was at the concert on Saturday when he groped a woman and pushed her into some chairs, sparking a fight with her husband.

Authorities say Garnica punched the man and then bit off the tip of his left index finger.
