Tickets on sale for Opera House season
The Sandwich Opera House's 29th season will open with a performance by a familiar face.
Elvis Presley tribute artist Doug Church, who has been performing Elvis tribute shows since 1983 and is a favorite of Opera House patrons, returns Saturday, Oct. 4.
All tickets are on sale at sandwichoperahouse.org and Facebook. Patrons can purchase tickets weekdays at the Opera House office, 140 E. Railroad St., or by calling 815-786-2555, from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m. Tickets also will be on sale 90 minutes prior to show times.
The Ides of March featuring Jim Peterik will perform a benefit concert and songwriting class Saturday, Nov. 3. Tickets, at $50, include the songwriting class, 3 to 4 p.m., and the 8 p.m. concert. Admission for the show only will be $40. Proceeds will benefit the Opera House seat reupholstering project.
Additional shows will include:
- An 8 p.m. piano performance will be by Teresa Walters, Saturday, Oct. 18. Dubbed "the International First Lady of Piano,” she has performed at Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall in London, the Salle Cortot in Paris and the Great Hall of Moscow.
- The fiery energy of The Neverly Brothers, who bridge the gap between 1950s rockabilly and the early 1960s British Invasion, will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22.
- Saturday, Dec. 13, will be Family Night. Beginning at 7 p.m., American Eagle Productions will present back-to-back shows, beginning with "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," followed by "Jingle Bell Express." Special ticket prices will be available for children ages 12 and younger.
- The "MegaStars of Country" tribute show — featuring Doug Brewin as Alan Jackson, Larry Turner as George Strait and both as Brooks and Dunn — will begin at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10.
- "The CoverGirls Violin Show," a revue of pop and rock hits from Led Zeppelin to Lady Gaga, performed by five young women, will begin at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24.
- "Broadway and More," a compilation of Broadway, musical theater, opera and art songs, will be performed by local artists Joe Arko and Lindsey Dondanville at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7.
- Corky Siegel's Chamber Blues group will return for an 8 p.m. show Saturday, Feb. 14. Opening the show will be Sue Demel and the Sons of the Never Wrong, a folk trio.
- Opera House fans can celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a show by harpist, composer, singer-songwriter, harp maker and world-class musician Rick Stanley. He will showcase his Celtic roots and give a preconcert educational talk on the Celtic Harp at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 7.
- "Retrospective," a Simon and Garfunkel tribute, will be presented at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 21. “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” “Homeward Bound,” “Cecilia” and other Simon and Garfunkel hits will be performed by AJ Swearingen and Jonathan Beedle.
- "Almost Elton John" is a tribute that celebrates decades of chart topping songs. Craig A. Meyer will portray the legendary English singer, songwriter and pianist at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 4.
- Travel back to the 1950s for Chicago’s premier a cappella quartet, AC Rock, singing doo-wop favorites from that era to more current songs. The show will begin at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 18.
- Tumbleweed, a tribute to The Eagles, Allman Brothers Band, Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd and other classic rock artists from the 1960s and 1970s, will be in concert at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 2.
- Tropixplosion is a Caribbean show band that features steel drums, other percussion, vocals and Blue Man Group-style performance pieces. The show will begin at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 16.
- Rounding out the season will be Kelly V. Smith with a tribute to Shania Twain and Cher. Smith was the voice of Cher in the 1999 ABC-TV movie “And The Beat Goes On: The Sonny and Cher Story.” Her show will begin at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 6.
