Scene . . . Greenwich resident and fashion icon Tommy Hilfiger was seen at Gabriele's Italian Steakhouse in Greenwich last week, as was Greenwich resident, TV chef and restaurateur Lidia Bastianich.

A celebration of a man who touched so many lives, Greenwich native Robert "Bobo" D'Elia, will take place at The St. Lawrence Club on Valley Road in Cos Cob on Friday from 7 to 11 p.m. BOBOPALOOZA, an evening of love, friendship and memories of Bobo, who passed away last month, will feature special musical guests performing his favorite songs, free food and a cash bar. Over 40 Females and Ladies Who Launch have joined forces again to present an evening with legal commentator and author Marcia Clark in celebration of her fourth novel "The Competition" on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Fairfield County Antique and Design Center in Norwalk. She was the lead prosecutor on the O.J. Simpson murder trial and co-wrote the bestselling book based on the trial, "Without a Doubt," as well as "Guilt by Association," "Guilt by Degrees," and "Killer Ambition." Columnist, author and Stamford resident Jerry Zezima was awarded first place for humor writing in the National Society of Newspaper Columnists' 2014 writing contest in the under 50,000 circulation category for his syndicated column "Zez Says" which appears in Greenwich Time and the Stamford Advocate. Zezima has also penned two books, "Leave It To Boomer," and "The Empty Nest Chronicles."
Scene . . . Greenwich resident and TV judge Judy Sheindlin was seen at Continental Wine & Spirit on William Street in Greenwich last Sunday afternoon. Sheindlin has a cameo appearance in the new motion picture "They Came Together" staring actors Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and John Stamos.
Out there . . . The Greenwich Point Conservancy's 10th Anniversary Beach Ball takes place on Saturday at Tod's Point at 6 p.m. The evening will feature cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, dinner and dancing to the Steve Delisi Band. Out there... Louis Zamperini, a World War II American prisoner of war and Olympic runner, has died at the age of 97. Zamperini's life inspired the book "Unbroken" written by Laura Hillenbrand, and an upcoming feature film with the same title directed by actress Angelina Jolie. Louis and I became friends 15 years ago after I watched a segment about his life on "60 Minutes." We began corresponding through letters and phone calls and he sent me his first biography, an extraordinary book, "Devil At My Heels." We finally met in 2011 when he visited Greenwich to speak at Stanwich Church. Unfortunately, he fell ill before the event and landed in Greenwich Hospital suffering from exhaustion -- but not too exhausted to greet me with that smile and enthusiasm, and later in the week he greeted a group of Brunswick students who came to visit him. He displayed tremendous faith in God, strength both physically and mentally, and a great deal of love and loyalty to his family and friends. In one of my last conversations with Louis, he was excited about the movie. He laughed and told me he asked them to speed up the production because he wanted to live to see it. I hope he did. "Unbroken" will be released in theaters on Christmas Day 2014.
