HUDSON COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE BUSINESS PROGRAMS

Computer Programming 101 will take place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from July 1 to July 29 at 6 to 9 p.m. The course will cost $349 and is designed for individuals with basic computer skills with little programming knowledge. "A.J. MEERWALD" SAILING AND TOURS

Hudson County and other residents will have the chance to sail New York Bay on the A.J. Meerwald, as well as take part in some dock-side tours, during the next few weeks. During the sailing trip and tours, people can learn about the oyster industry, the ship's history, help hoist the sails, or simply relax and enjoy the views of the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan. The sailing trips will be held in the morning (10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) on June 28 and July 5; in the afternoon (1:30 to 4 p.m.) today through Tuesday, Thursday through June 28, and July 3, 5, 6, 11, 14, and 15; and in the evening (6 to 8:30 p.m.) today, Monday and Tuesday, as well as July 3, 5, 12 and 13. JAZZ PROGRAM AT MILLER BRANCH LIBRARY

The Jersey City Free Public Library (JCPFL) will host a Jazz House Kids event today at 8 p.m. at the Miller Branch Library. The event, part of JCPFL's Community Awareness Series, will feature one of Jazz House Kids's several ensembles playing some classic jazz tunes originally composed in the 1950's and 60's. Jazz House Kids is a nonprofit organization based in Montclair that aims to increase student understanding of and appreciation for Jazz music by today's young people. POLE POSITION RACEWAY'S ALZHEIMER'S EVENT

Pole Position Raceway in Jersey City will partner with the Alzheimer's Association's Greater New Jersey Chapter to raise awareness and funds surrounding its "Longest Day" event on today by hosting Go-Kart races from 10 a.m. to midnight. Participants are encouraged to contribute to Pole Position Raceway's fundraising effort by purchasing races on its webpage, where all of the proceeds (or $30) will go directly to the Alzheimer's Association's Longest Day program. The program raises funds to benefit the Alzheimer's Association's efforts to combat Alzheimer's disease. BAYONNE BRIDGEMEN'S "TOURNAMENT OF STARS"

Bayonne's Bridgemen Drum and Bugle Corps, which performed at last weekend's Elks State Convention in Wildwood, will perform at the 9th annual "Tournament of Stars" today at 6 p.m. in Bayonne's Veterans Stadium. Eight groups from throughout the Northeast will perform at the tournament, four of them in competition and the other four in exhibition. CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION TRAINING PROGRAM IN JERSEY CITY

Miracle Temple Church Hall will facilitate a child abuse prevention training program called "Stewards of Children" on June 28 from 10 a.m. to noon, as put together by the group Choices. Patrina Wright from Patrina Wright Ministries is the guest speaker. The Choices organization works to educate people across the country on how they can help fight the sexual abuse of children. Registration for its training program costs $10 per person, which goes toward the packet that participants will receive. 2014 JUNE TRAIL CLEAN UP

The Jersey City Reservoir Preservation Alliance will have its June 2014 Trail clean-up today from 10 a.m. to noon, which will entail removing trash and pruning back brush growth in order to beautify the reservoir. JERSEY CITY'S FARMER'S MARKET RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY

The Jersey City West Side's first farmer's market, located at Lincoln Park, will have a ribbon cutting ceremony near the park's water foundation, off West Side Ave., tomorrow from 11 to 11:30 a.m. County Executive Tom De Gise, Mayor Steve Fulop, and other Jersey City and Hudson County leaders will be present for the ceremony. The Jersey City Free Public Library (JCFPL) will have this year's summer reading program from Monday to August 15, which will feature movies, games, fun book reads, trips, live performances, and more. ELEVATION TENNIS

The Bayonne Recreation division will partner with Elevation Tennis to provide tennis lessons at Thomas DiDomenico Park, located on 16th St., Bayonne on Tuesday and Thursday. Everyone aged 11 and up is welcome, and Elevation Tennis will provide training at all levels, from newcomers to competition level athletes. LATIN SAX CONCERT AT WEST NEW YORK CHURCH

HOBOKEN BABY PARADE

The Hoboken Historical Museum will have its 13th Annual Baby Parade on June 29 (rain date: July 6), starting at 1 p.m. During the parade, local parents and caregivers are encouraged to dress up themselves, their babies, toddlers and their carriages in costumes and other fine attire, as well as create mini-floats to display at the parade. HUDSON RIVER'S "WALK THE WALKWAY"

The Hudson River Waterfront Conservancy is pleased to announce the fourth annual "Walk the Walkway" series on the Hudson River Walkway. JERSEY CITY KAPPA LEAGUE EVENTS AT HCCC

JERSEY CITY 2014 SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM

Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service have partnered with the Food and Nutrition Services of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for the 2014 Summer Food Service Program, which provides healthy summer breakfasts and lunches for qualified summer camps, daycares, not-for-profits, and faith based organizations. JCITFF LAUNCH PARTY

JERSEY CITY FIREWORKS AND FREEDOM FESTIVAL

Mayor Steve Fulop and the Jersey City Council will present the "Jersey City Fireworks and Freedom Festival" on July 4 at its Liberty State Park. The festival will run from noon to 9 p.m., and will benefit the Fields of Honor foundation, which runs a college scholarship program for family members of fallen or wounded soldiers. The festival will include musical performances by Craig Morgan and Kristen Redmond, as well as a Budweiser Beer Garden Experience, Brewmaster Tour, and a Clydesdale show with a photo op session for attendees. OPEN DOOR NJNY BIKEATHON FUNDRAISER

Moses Lee, a board member of The Open Door NJNY, will do a bikeathon travel by bicycle from Boston to New York on July 5 and 6 to raise funds to help expand its programs. Lee's fundraising goal is to raise $10,000, and community members are strongly encouraged to sponsor the bikeathon. METROPOLITAN WATER ALLIANCE MEETING AND ANNUAL CITY OF WATER DAY

RESAVIAN CLUB AT JERSEY CITY RESERVOIR

The Jersey City Reservoir Preservation Alliance is starting a bird-watching club called "The ResAvian Club", and is welcoming people of all ages, regardless of previous bird-watching experience, to join the club. SUMMER RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM

The New Jersey Chamber of Commerce Foundation has announced the launch of the "College, Career, Ready, Academy", a summer residential program for high potential high school students entering their freshman sophomore and junior years. The program will take place at various colleges including New Jersey City University from July 14 to July 18. The program will accept 50 students for each college. TALES OF OUR CITIES BOOK FESTIVAL SCOUTING

The Jersey City Free Public Library is now scouting for book authors, poets, spoken word artists, musicians, performers, vendors, publishers and sponsors for its annual book festival. The Paella For the World organization, in partnership with the New Jersey Restaurant Association and the American Academy of Gastronomy-East Chapter, will hold the New Jersey Paella Festival and cook-off on Oct. 25 from 2 to 10 p.m. at the Hudson County Community College (HCCC)'s Culinary Arts Institute (CAI). KENNEDY DANCERS DANCE CLASSES FOR SENIORS

The Kennedy Dancers, a non-profit dance school located at 79 Central Ave., Jersey City, will offer several classes for people 62 and over at the studio:

Zumba Gold will take place every Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at the studio. This super body work out combines easy dance movements with fun Latin and world music. The class is especially designed to promote dexterity, flexibility and endurance for the more mature person.

Body Flow will take place every Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. The class is a carefully designed stretch & fitness program developed from Yoga, Tai Chi and Pilates with both standing and seatedexercises that will work your body gently help you develop endurance, strength, and flexibility. They also use deep breathing, meditation & other healingexercise in these programs.

People over the age of 62 can enjoy a basic Latin ballroom class every Thursday at 12:30 p.m. Beginners and moreintermediate dancers are welcome. The teacher is a Latin Ballroom specialist who'll include Salsa, Bachatta, Merengue and Cha Cha Cha. Partners are not necessary.
