Liberty Missionary Baptist Church will travel to Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio, where the pastor is the Rev. Henry Leftridge, on July 27. A bus will be chartered for church members, friends and family. Seats are $30. There is a $15 nonrefundable deposit that is due by June 29. The Ladies Aide Ministry of Levi First Missionary Baptist Church will present the play, “On Their Way to the Slabtown District Convention,” at 5 p.m. June 14 at the church, located at 5125 Church Drive, Rand.

Abundant Life Bible College, 1534 Washington St.E., will have its Eighth Graduation Ceremony at 3 p.m. on June 15. The commencement speaker will be Pastor Terrence Hamm. All are welcome to attend. For more information, call 304-342-0058.

Gateway United Methodist Church, 301 Diamond St., Fairmont, will give a presentation of the Rev. Fletcher Golden: “The Father Who Inspired Father’s Day” at 9:30 a.m. June 15 at the church. The Rev. D.D. Meighen will bring the 15-minute presentation, which will be accompanied with a power point viewing. He served the Father’s Day Church of America and devoted himself to extensive research on the man, the event and why Fairmont never received the national recognition. Actor and filmmaker, Erik Estrada, is scheduled to show the film, “Uncommon,” at 6 p.m. June 15 at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 2150 Mount Vernon Road, Hurricane. The movie follows a group of high school students who struggle against political correctness to defend their privilege to worship, meet and perform. Estrada was a cast member of the TV show, “ChiPS,” and appeared with Pat Boone in the movie, “The Cross and the Switchblade.” Senior pastor is the Rev. Ron McClung. The Unitarian Universalist Congregation at 520 Kanawha Boulevard has a discussion group that meets for one hour every Sunday. It is an open forum, inviting all to participate. This week the speaker will be discussing the Federal Reserve. What is it up to these days? Will its policy regarding interest rates on Federal funds help us or hurt us? We all need to understand this.

The Infinity Elite Sixth Grade Boys Basketball Team will be selling chicken and fish dinners from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 14 at Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church will have a yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 14 on the church parking lot.

King of Glory International Ministries, 302 Delaware Ave., will offer it’s third Free Basketball Clinic from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 14 at the church. Coach and Youth Pastor is Ron Beatty. The entrance is on the side door on Randolph Street. For information, call 304-720-5994.

Nicholas Naylor’s 10-Year Anniversary Concert will take place at 7 p.m. on June 28 at Mount Tabor United Methodist Church Activities Center in Pinch. More information can be found at www.nicholasnaylormusic.com.

The BrighterSide Quartet will sing at 6 p.m. June 14 at Burke United Methodist Church, Camp Creek, off W.Va. 4, near Procious. The Randy White Family singers will also perform.

A free Red White and Blessed concert will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. June 14 at Harris Riverfront Park. The progressive contemporary Christian concert will feature Without Form, Taking up Crosses, Refrain-and-Rescue, Allan Reid, Deano and Joe Lycan.

Valerie Higginbotham will sing at 7 p.m. June 16 at Lucy Wilson Baptist Church, Wills Creek, Elkview.

A benefit gospel sing will be held at 6 p.m. June 15 at Little Sandy Baptist Church, Little Sandy, Elkview. Praising Him and Living For Him groups will sing.

A benefit gospel sing will be held at 7 p.m. June 14 at Walker Chapel Church on Walker Drive just off the Interstte 77, Tuppers Creek exit at Sissonville. Featured singers will be The Edens Family, The Believers, Nicholas Naylor and The Tignors. The benefit is for Greg and Terrie Edens.

Mount Vernon Baptist Church will host the Joyfulaires southern gospel quartet at the 11 a.m. June 22 service at the church, 2150 Mount Vernon Road, Hurricane. The group features twins Garry and Jerry Fisher, Mike Watts and Gary Morgan. Lead singer, Garry, was previously selected Amateur Soloist of the Year by the National Quartet Convention. Jerry is known as the “Christian Gentleman” and both have been singing together for 53 years. Rounding out the vocalizing is Watts, baritone, and Morgan, tenor. The group will perform at 6 p.m. June 15 at Greenup Association of Church, 12127 Midland Trail, Ashland, Kentucky. Mount Vernon Baptist Church is located off the Interstate 64, Teays Valley Exit 39. The Rev. Ron McClung is pastor.

Roger and Ginger Breeden will sing at 6 p.m. June 14 at Parsons Chapel, Sixth Avenue.

Revival

Providence Baptist Church, Rocky Step Road, Scott Depot, will have revival services at 7 p.m. nightly, June 18 through June 21 at the church. Special singing will be: June 18, Mike Chatterton; June 19, Dorsey Johnson; June 20, Gary Sargant; and June 21, Blake Bledsoe. The Rev. Benny Simmons will preach each night. The Rev. Benny Simmons will also preach on June 22.

The 30th annual Elk Valley Gospel Sing will be held at 7 p.m. June 27 at Leatherwood Missionary Baptist Church. Featured singers will be The Primitive Quartet from Candler, N.C.; Archie Watkins of Whittier, N.C.; Mike Upright from Penrose, N.C. Bring a lawn chair. Elk Valley Christian School will provide a refreshment stand. All proceeds from the concession will benefit the school. Directions to Elk Valley’s largest outdoor gospel sing: from Charleston, take Interstate 79 to the Elkview Exit. Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 442 McDonald St., South Charleston, will feature the Rev. Riccardo Flippin as guest speaker at the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service.

Good Shepherd Free Will Baptist Church, 5470 Pea Ridge Road, Huntington, will have Sunday school at 10 a.m. Sunday. A special Father’s Day service will be held at 11 a.m. June 15 with Pastor Jason C. Black preaching. The evening worship begins at 6 p.m. June 15 with the church singers singing and Pastor Jason C. Black preaching. The prayer meeting and youth groups will meet at 7 p.m. on June 18.

Vacation Bible school

Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 2150 Mount Vernon Road, Hurricane, has scheduled vacation Bible school at 6 p.m. nightly, June 22-26 at the church. Classes will be available for children ages 2 to the fifth grade. Bible studies and stories, games, crafts, music and snacks will be featured. An old-fashioned ice cream social will highlight the conclusion. Director is Edie Murphy and pastor is the Rev. Ron McClung. The church is located near the Interstate 64, Teays Valley Exit 39.

Faith Missionary Baptist Church in St. Albans will have its vacation Bible school beginning at 6 p.m. June 16 at the church. School will continue from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 17 through June 20 at the church, located at 701 MacCorkle Ave. West, St. Albans. Classes will be available for 3-year-olds through adults. The theme will be “Knight’s Quest.” Meet special guests, King Arthur, Sir Lancelot, Sir Galahad and Bubb, the Court Jester. Contests, games, Bible stories and snacks will be featured. A special program with awards, prizes and a pizza party will be held at 6 p.m. on June 22. Van transportation will be provided. Pastor is Mike Hager and youth pastor is Josh Free. Diamond Baptist Church will have vacation Bible school from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 23-27 at the church. Classes will be for ages pre-school to middle school. The theme is “Creation.” Bible lessons, music, crafts, games and more will be featured. A trip to the Creation Museum in Kentucky will be held on June 28. Farrar Memorial Baptist Church in Rand will host its annual vacation Bible school from 6 to 8 p.m. daily, June 16 through June 20 at the church, 5501 Church Drive. Classes will be available for ages 3 through the 12th grade. This year’s theme is “Arrow Island” — Choosing God’s Way. Activities include Bible lessons, singing, games, crafts and snacks. The church will also have a parade through Rand at 10 a.m. June 21, followed by games and hot dogs at the Rand Community Center. Bus transportation to vacation Bible school is available. The bus will leave the church at 5:20 p.m. each evening, driving through the streets of Rand. For more information, call the church at 304-925-5513.
