X Factor boss Simon Cowell is set to try his hand at animation film-making after signing a deal with Australia's Animal Logic, the company behind The LEGO Movie and Happy Feet.

The father-of-one, who clearly admires the work of Animal Logic, said the partnership is a 'dream come true'.

The music mogul's Syco Entertainment announced the collaboration with the animation and visual effects studio on Thursday.

Signed, sealed, delivered: Simon Cowell's Syco Entertainment announced a 'a long-term, multi-project partnership' with Australia's Animal Logic on Thursday

'It is a dream come true to have this opportunity of working with Animal Logic,' he said.

'I think their work is pure genius and I really feel excited about the films we are going to be making together.'

Syco Entertainment announced 'a long-term, multi-project partnership' with the animation company and anticipated their first film will hit the big screens by 2016.

Animal Logic's CEO Zareh Nalbandian said he was thrilled about the collaboration and is confident the partnership will 'be a very powerful force in family entertainment'.

The award-winning firm has also worked on films such as The Great Gatsby, Moulin Rouge and The Matrix.

Syco, a global joint venture with Sony Music Entertainment, is one of UK's most successful music labels and created reality TV formats The X Factor and Got Talent.

Cowell has an 11-week-old son Eric with partner Lauren Silverman.

The proud father recently shared a photo of his first child on his Twitter account, describing him as 'very handsome like his dad'.

The 54-year-old is starting to show his softer side after he admitted on Sky News in March that he was 'born to be a dad'.
