WASHINGTON (NewsChannel8) - Local music fans are saying 'yes' to the indie pop group, NONONO. From commercials to youtube, the Swedish band is gaining worldwide attention with their hit single, 'Pumpin Blood.' On Wednesday night, the Embassy of Sweden hosted an exclusive concert.
"I've always had the philosophy that music travels forever if the music wants to travel...I'm happy for the music to get out there," said lead singer Stina Wäppling.
Their first U.S. single has quickly become a crowd favorite.
"It became like an instant jam. This is what I'm going to be listening to all the time," said DC resident Amanda Chamoun.
Wäppling, along with musicians Tobias Jimson and Michel Flygare formed just two years ago in Stockholm, signing onto the Warner Brothers record label.
Supporting them along their international journey, are some hometown fans.
"This is our 97th concert since we opened the House of Sweden in 2006, so I think it's great we can offer a platform for Swedish bands," said Linda Tocchini-Valentini with the Embassy of Sweden.
In a city full of history, NONONO made its own mark by visiting and performing in the Nation's Capital for the first time.
"We passed some of the monuments on the way, and that's kind of amazing...the monuments you've seen on TV, the movies, Capitol Hill," said NONONO guitarist Michel Flygare.
While their visit was short, they ended on a high note.
"People are really like energetic and show their emotions..and you get a lot of energy back playing here," said Wäppling.
NONONO will be releasing their first album in Europe next week. They'll be returning to the US in April to tour with the 'twenty one pilots.'
