He has topped the Indian music charts and was runner-up in the reality television show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. Now Vineet Singh will travel to this country’s shores to share the stage with local entertainer Raymond Ramnarine and his band Dil-e-Nadan.
The duo will meet at the post-Valentine’s concert, Guardian Group Everybody Loves Raymond.
The show takes place at the Centre of Excellence, Macoya, on March 22.
The event, as in previous years, was scheduled post-Carnival to allow Ramnarine and his band to fulfil their Carnival engagements, producer Rafi Mohammed said.
Ramnarine has shared the stage with many Indian icons, including Zubeen, Monali Thakur, Ash King , Raghav and Kamal Khan.
Singh, 24, is one of Bollywood’s newest playback singers. He has recorded songs for many Bollywood movies including Policegiri, Son Of Sardar, Milenge Milenge, Khiladi 786 where his song “Hookar Bar” is still considered the youth anthem of 2013 in India.
Singh started his singing career at the age of five. His mentor is Music Director Himesh Reshamiya and he is currently the lead singer for Himesh’s stage group.
Mohammed said the Indian singer has a unique singing voice and is an expert on Sonu Nigam and Mohammed Rafi songs, but is equally comfortable with other genres. He was one of the more popular singers on ZEE TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa.
Ramnarine said he was excited to perform alongside the Indian singer.
“The countdown has begun for what is going to change the landscape of our music industry. It is a concert that attracted over 10,000 people last year. Trinidad’s best joins India’s superstar. It is a concert of a lifetime,” he said.
Ramnarine said the concert has become a calendar event and his band works towards putting on a grand show every year.
